God has a strange way of doing things. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; God does things in ways I don’t fully understand.
I’ve spoken very openly about how the last two years or so have really sucked for me and my family. However, even in the suck, God has been with us and taught us much, including how to depend on him for our every need. If you have kept up with me on social media at all or you know me you know that recently (this last Sunday in fact) I preached at a church in Nashville, TN in view of a call. Our interaction with the people of South City Church from beginning to now has been full of warmth and kindness and true honesty. It has been really good. This last Sunday went well I think. We had a good morning of worship with God’s people and an honest time of Q&A afterwards. It was good to be among God’s people. We are very excited about the future of South City Church. We believe that God has great things in store for his church there in the Edge Hill neighborhood, in the city of Nashville and, through SCC, the world. The church will technically vote next Sunday but we have already begun to make plans for our transition to Nashville. As such, the church has told us they will be providing some moving expenses. However, as anyone who has moved knows, moving is not a cheap undertaking once you add up the moving itself, plus down payments on a house, utilities set up and so on. As such, I am boldly asking you, my friends, for something. We would love to have God’s people partner with us in this endeavor for his kingdom and help South City Church with our moving expenses. Anything you can give would be a great help. Church leaders and pastors, if you’ve ever considered partnering with a church plant, this is a perfect opportunity for you. However, please don’t send the money to me. Send it to South City Church. There a couple reasons for this. First and foremost, the money doesn’t belong to me if you give it. It is first of all God’s money and secondly, to assist SCC as they help us transition. So I don’t want your money. I want you to give it to SCC so that they may care for us well during the transition. Second, any donations you make to SCC are tax deductible and they aren’t if you give it to me directly. I want you to have that ability. So if you would like to help SCC help us, please consider how you can give to that effort. At this time, they cannot accept online donations so please send a check and note that it is for "pastor salary" and they will take care of it. The address is as follows: South City Church 718 Thompson Lane 108 #146 Nashville, TN 37204 I have been instructed to tell you that the address must be entered exactly as above (especially the second line) or it won’t get there. Thank you all for your prayers and words of encouragement to me in this time and for your generosity now. Please be in prayer for SCC as they vote next Sunday and for us as we pack, move and settle into a new work if the Lord wills it. Soli Deo Gloria!
